NC Botanical Garden: 50 Years of Wildflowers and Exhibits!
NC Botanical Garden

The NC Botanical Garden, part of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has served as a leader in native plant conservation and education in the southeastern United States for 50 years.  It is filled with a fascinating array of native plants and wildflowers as it prepares to celebrate that anniversary.

Please take notice of the developing Children’s Wonder Garden.  The Chapel Hill Garden Club donated a large portion of the proceeds from the 2014 Chapel Hill Spring Garden Tour to fund architectural and engineering plans for this new public garden, which will receive our support again this year.  Imagine it filled with inquisitive, slightly dirty future gardeners!

This stop on the Chapel Hill Spring Garden Tour 2016 offers:

  • Habitat Gardens: Spring splendor from the mountains to the coast surrounds the Allen Education Center.  Don’t miss the carnivorous plants – one of the most diverse collections in the southeastern US.
  • Special exhibitions: Walk through Homegrown, artist Patrick Dougherty’s outdoor sculpture.  Enjoy beautiful artwork in the DeBerry Gallery.  In the Pegg Exhibit Hall, learn about the Garden’s history and its plans for the future
  • Demonstrations of simplified composting and water conservation for your home garden
  • Gift Shop
  • Water bottle refill station
  • Restrooms
